Minnesota State law regulates the sale and possession of alcohol. Businesses and organizations wishing to sell or serve beer, wine, and alcohol must be licensed by the city.
How to Obtain a Liquor License
Obtaining a liquor license is a multi-step process. All new liquor license applications require a non-refundable investigation fee. The city’s license period is from July 1 through June 30. If you are applying for a license that is less than the 12 month period, some of the license fees may be prorated.
Please submit all application materials, investigation fee, and liquor license fees at least 60 days prior to when you desire to start serving liquor.
Non-profit organizations may apply for a temporary beer or liquor license a maximum of 12 times per year. These licenses are good for one to four days and should be submitted 30 days prior to the event.
