Several times a year the City of Blaine receives phone calls from property owners experiencing a sewer backup. What most property owners do not know is that the sewer and water lines on their private property are their responsibility.

For homeowners, most of the time sewer and water pipes are out of sight and out of mind. But when a sewer backup happens a solution is needed right away. To help property owners prepare for the unexpected expense of a sewer line or water line repair the city wants to make residents aware of an optional warranty coverage plan.

Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA), offers Exterior Water Service Line Coverage and Exterior Sewer/Septic Line Coverage. SLWA is the sole provider in the United States of this specific type of comprehensive coverage. Homeowners are also always encouraged to check with their insurance provider for any riders or additional coverage options.

Coverage plans from SLWA can help protect homeowners from the potentially expensive repair costs of water and sewer/septic lines.

The City of Blaine has coordinated efforts with the National League of Cities (NLC) and SLWA solely for the purpose of informing its residents of an optional utility service line protection program. The City of Blaine has no responsibility or liability for the program being provided by Service Line Warranties of America.

Through a signed agreement, Service Line Warranties of America has been authorized to use the City of Blaine logo on mailings sent to residents. City staff and SLWA go through a review process of all mailings before they are sent to Blaine residents.
