Sign Application Process in iMS

Review and Prepare

Review

Please review the following information:

  1. Commercial Zoning Districts (B-2, B-3, B-4, PBD):
    1. Wall Signs – One wall sign per street frontage, up to 10% of the wall area with a maximum of 200 square feet. 
    2. Freestanding Signs – Each site is allowed one monument sign, 140 square feet, maximum height of 14 feet.
  2. Industrial Zoning Districts (I-1 and I-2):

    1. Wall Signs – One wall sign per street frontage, up to 10% of the wall area with a maximum of 200 square feet. 
    2. Freestanding Signs – Each site is allowed one monument sign, 80 square feet, maximum height of 10 feet.

 General Requirements for Permanent Signage:

  • Monument signs must have a 10 foot setback from the property line.
  • A monument style sign is a freestanding sign containing a solid or enclosed base. The base is constructed of material complementary to the building. Width of the base is to be a minimum of 2/3 the width of sign face.
  • No signs are permitted in the public right-of-way.
  • A permit is required for all signs listed above.
  • Permit fee is $30 plus $.50 for every square foot.
  1. Off-site signage is not permitted, except for approved billboards.

Prepare

The following information and documents are needed for upload during the online application process. Please note, documents need to be in a PDF format (other accepted formats are DOC, DOCX, JPEG, and PNG).

  • Dimensions of Walls and Proposed Sign
  • Dimensions of Existing Wall Signs Proposed to Remain (wall signs only)
  • Graphic Rendering (proposed sign)
  • Graphic of Wall (with dimensions, wall signs only)
  • Site Plan (freestanding signs only)
  • Letter from Property Owner Authorizing the Application (PDF) (from property owner if not included on rendering)
  • Permanent Sign Permit Application Fee - $30 plus $0.50/square foot  (due prior to permit issuance)
