The Natural Resources Conservation Board (NRCB) of Blaine is promoting the concept of a "Friends of Open Space" group. Thanks to a $3.5 million Bond Fund approved by Blaine voters in 2000, several beautiful parcels of land have already been purchased and will be preserved for all residents to enjoy. However, these areas will require periodic attention for management and maintenance. The NRCB invites you to become involved and participate whenever such activities are planned.
Currently, we are working on implementation of the Open Space Management Plan. The "Friends of Open Space" would be your opportunity to become involved in your community. This is your city and the open spaces belong to you!
The NRCB meets monthly on the 3rd Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers in City Hall (second floor). You are always welcome to attend and give your input during the Open Forum at the start of each meeting. Contact NRCB chairperson Dottie McKinley by phone at 763-784-9786 or staff liaison Jim Hafner for information..
