Welcome to the Blaine Explorers Information Center

The Blaine Police Explorer Post #3939 is comprised of a group of students with an interest in law enforcement careers who are uniformed and receive specialized training in multiple aspects of police work. Explorers participate in many community events, such as the 3M Championship at TPC, Blazin' Blaine Fourth of July events, Safety Camp and other community happenings. Explorers who are active in the post, both at meetings and who volunteer at community events, have the opportunity to ride along with a Police Officer once a month. These ride along allows Explorers to get a first-hand look at law enforcement.

In Blaine, Police Explorers must be between the ages of 14 and 21, maintain a C average or better in school, pass a criminal history background check, be willing to volunteer time for community events and participate in weekly/biweekly training sessions. At these meetings, explorers are trained by Police Department advisors, including City of Blaine Police Officers, CSOs and Reserves. Guest speakers are also brought in, and in the past have included the Minnesota State Patrol, Anoka County Sherriff's Office and other units.

Explorers are taught various police skills and test those skills annually at the three-day statewide Minnesota Law Enforcement Explorer Conference and competition Rochester, Minn. Scenarios at the competition include Traffic Stops, Use of Force, Crime Scene Investigation, Bomb Threat Response, Emergency Field First Aid and others. Other conference activies include academic sessions on pivotal law enforcement topics, pistol shoots and career fair. The Explorer post annually receives high marks at the competition.
