Through the COVID-19 pandemic, housing activity has continued to remain strong in Blaine. Over the last 20 years, Blaine has continually ranked in the top 10 in the Twin Cities metropolitan area for new housing construction. Through July 31, 2020, Blaine has issued permits for 147 new housing units at a value of over $45,000,000. Blaine ranks third in permits issued behind Lakeville and Woodbury.
New housing comes in various forms including attached townhomes, single-level villas, and single-family homes. Blaine has also had several apartment buildings constructed in recent years that offer a different housing product for individuals who may not want to own a home or have the maintenance responsibilities that come with home ownership. Residential growth is anticipated to continue for the next 15 years until Blaine becomes a fully developed city.
