Final Plat Approvals

Granted final plat approval to subdivide 14.24 acres into 29 lots and 2 outlots to be known as Julian Meadows at 12551 Lever Street NE.
Granted final plat approval to subdivide 2.5 acres into 45 townhome lots to be known as Harpers Landing Second Addition on the northwest corner of Harpers Street and 125th Avenue NE.
Granted final plat approval to subdivide 9.82 acres into 29 lots and 2 outlots to be known as Alexander Woods Third Addition at 1080 and 1100 113th Avenue NE.

Conditional Use Permit Approvals

Granted a conditional use permit to allow for a commercial kennel, Rescue Pets Are Wonderful, into a heavy industrial zoning district.
Granted a preliminary plat and conditional use permit to allow for the subdivision and construction of a five acre lot into 22 lots for single family detached homes in a development flex zoning district at 12650 Harpers Street NE.
Granted a conditional use permit to allow additional outside storage in a heavy industrial zoning district at 12325 Cloud Drive NE for Adolph’s Catalytic Converters.
Granted a conditional use permit amendment to allow for additional classrooms for an educational use in a community commercial zoning district at Darul Arqam Center of Excellence 8710 Central Avenue NE.
Granted a conditional use permit to allow for the construction of two single family homes at 1000 113th Avenue NE in Alexander Woods Fourth Addition.

Business License Approvals

Approved a massage enterprise license to Salons by JC to provide massage therapy at their business location.
Approved 2022-2023 kennel license renewals for Stone Mountain Pet Lodge and PetSuites to allow businesses to continue with boarding, grooming, and sheltering of domestic animals in a clean, safe, and humane manner.
Approved 2022-2023 vending truck license renewal for Blaine Anoka Ice Cream and Ali Ice Cream.
Approval of tobacco and tobacco product license for Circle Smoke Shop Plus and Circle Pines Station.
Approval of carnival license for amusement attractions at Northtown Mall for May 12-22, 2022.

Fire Chief Smith, Mayor Sanders, and Police Chief Podany at Blaine Business Council

Blaine Business Council Highlights Public Safety

On April 28, the quarterly Blaine Business Council highlighted public safety efforts within the City of Blaine with presentations from Chief Brian Podany of the Blaine Police Department and Fire Chief Charlie Smith of the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department.

Chief Podany and Chief Smith provided insight into how they keep the Blaine community safe.

This quarter’s featured business was the Metro Gun Club who shared their history and partnerships in within the community. The local school districts and City’s Economic Development staff also provided updates to attendees.

The next Blaine Business Council will take place on July 7 at 7:30AM at the TPC. All members of the Blaine business community are welcome to attend. No RSVP needed.

Economic Development Summit was Held on May 12

The Blaine Economic Development Authority hosted Blaine’s first Economic Development Summit on May 12. Developers, brokers, bankers, businesses, and economic development multipliers from around Minnesota came together to learn about the City’s strategic mission and vision for the future and what makes Blaine a premier destination for new businesses. Blaine’s major redevelopment initiatives at Northtown and 105th and Nassau were highlighted as well as other areas within the City that have been classified as key development areas in the City’s strategic plan.

The Anoka County Job Training Center and partner organizations are committed to assisting local businesses by meeting your business’ training needs on an individualized and group basis. The Incumbent Worker Training Program can work to improve the skills and competitiveness of your current workforce by providing training for in-demand skills and/or certifications. Upon successful completion of the training, employee(s) remain fulltime, permanent employees able to contribute new knowledge to their position and overall team.
