- Granted a conditional use permit to allow live entertainment in the B-2 (Community Commercial) Zoning District at 10950 Club West Parkway NE #160, The Rusty Bumblebee
- Granted a conditional use permit for an office in the POD (Planned Office District) Zoning District at 3925 Pheasant Ridge Drive NE, Minnesota State Emergency Operations Center
- Granted a conditional use permit for outside storage and multiple buildings on one lot in the I-2 (Heavy Industrial) Zoning District at 10101 Naples Street NE, Park Construction Company
- Granted a conditional use permit to operate a contractors’ yard for concrete crushing in the I-2 (Heavy Industrial) Zoning District at 10101 Naples Street NE, Park Construction Company

Target USA Cup Ends and 3M Open Begins The Target USA Cup ran from July 14 through July 22. This event drew in more than 1,000 teams and an estimated 16,000 athletes and their families from across the globe. The 3M Open PGA Tour event will begin on July 24 and conclude July 30 bringing in not only professional golfers but thousands of tournament attendees each day. Blaine residents can get discounted good any day tickets at BlaineMN.gov/3MOpen. These two events bring in an estimated $86.4 million in impact to the local economy. This includes spending at hotels, restaurants, and other local businesses. In addition to the immediate local economic boost, these events put the spotlight on Blaine helping the City attract new business, residents, and tourists to the City making Blaine a vibrant and exciting place to live, work and grow.

Blaine Recognized as Top City for Small Business The City of Blaine was recognized in July’s issue of Site Selection Magazine’s top city for small businesses. Cities across the United States are considered and top performing cities meet a number of criteria including a growing population, highly educated workforce, labor-friendly commute times, favorable tax climate, easy access to capital, and widespread broadband access. City of Blaine Hosted Northtown Open HousesIn June, the City of Blaine Planning Department held two open house events regarding he Northtown District Vision Plan at Northtown Mall. Approximately 60 people attended the two events to learn about what the plan means for Northtown and the goals for the area. The City would like to thank those in attendance and invite residents to Blaine’s Touch a Truck event on August 22 for another opportunity to learn more about the Northtown District Vision Plan.

City Partners with Northtown Mall for Touch a TruckOn August 22, the City of Blaine in partnership with Northtown Mall will host Touch a Truck in the Northtown Mall parking lot from 5-7PM. Everyone is invited to attend this event which will include an array of large vehicles including police and fire vehicles, snowplows, and more. The event will also include food trucks, a school supply drive for the local school districts, and a display of the Northtown District Vision Plan with city staff available to answer your questions.

Achieve Services Unveils Achieve Wings ProjectTucked away in the north entrance of Northtown Mall next to Burlington Coat Factory mall visitors may have noticed something new about the look and feel as they enter the doors. Recently, Achieve Services cut the ribbon on Achieve Wings, a mural project put that is now gracing the walls at Northtown Mall. Achieve Wings is one of the largest collaborative art projects completed in Anoka County and was completed by Achieve Services very own artists and facilitators. Achieve Services is a local Blaine non-profit organization that provides employment opportunities and day programming for adults with disabilities.

Start a Business, Grow a Business Resource EventOn Wednesday, July 26, CareerForce will be hosting Start a Business, Grow a Business aimed at helping entrepreneurs and small businesses connect with resources to help their business grow. This is your opportunity to speak face-to-face with organizations dedicated to supporting small businesses. This event is being held at CareerForce in Bloomington at 4220 W Old Shakopee Rd, 2nd Floor. The event kicks off at 9AM with a workshop “Starting a Business in Minnesota” followed by a resource fair from 10-11AM.
