Does Blaine have a festival? If so, when?: Yes. Blaine has what is called the Blaine Festival. It is always the last Friday, Saturday and Sunday in June with the parade being on that Saturday at noon. All activities are held at Aquatore Park. 1. What hours are the city parks open?: Parks are open to the public from 5AM to 10PM. The beach, boathouse, and pavilions have different hours.

2. Where can I get information about recreation programs?: To current programs at BlaineParks.com/Register call the Parks and Recreation Department at 763-785-6164.

3. How do I register for recreation programs?: Register online on our website or in person, by fax, or by mail.

4. Do I need to be a Blaine resident to register for recreation programs?: No. We accept non-residents into our all of our programs. Some programs require a non-resident fee.

5. Where can I find the Recreation Connection publications?: The RecConnect is published three times per year and can be viewed at BlaineMN.gov/RecConnect.

6. How do I reserve a park shelter or building?: Park shelters or meetings rooms can be reserved online at BlaineMN.gov/FacilityRental.

7. How do I find out about summer employment?: We begin taking applications for summer employment on February 1 through March. Employment runs from approximately June 1 until mid-August. Positions will be posted at BlaineMN.gov/Jobs.

8. When do the restrooms typically open and close at the parks?: Typically, the restrooms open on April 1 and close on November 1.

9. When does the beach/splash pad open and close at Lakeside Commons Park?

10. When does summer adult softball registration begin? Fall softball registration?: Summer softball registration begins the first Monday in February. Fall softball registration begins mid-July Adult Sport Information

12. Does Blaine have fireworks? If so, when?: Yes. Blaine’s fireworks are held on July 4 at 10PM at the National Sports Center.

13. Are dogs allowed in the city parks?: Yes, however, all dogs need to be leashed and you must pick up after your dog. The City does have a designated dog park, Swanson Dog Park

14. Where do I report a park concern i.e. broken equipment, vandalism?: You may report a concern at BlaineMN.gov/ReportIt.

15. How and when can I obtain a Community Garden plot?: Garden plots can be obtained by registering online at BlaineParks.com/Register. Gardeners from previous year can begin registering in February; Blaine residents in March and non-resident gardeners.

16. Does Blaine have a dog park? If so, where?: Yes, Swanson Dog Park is located inside of Aquatore Park at 9191 Lincoln Street.

17. Are alcohol and tobacco allowed in city parks?: Tobacco is not allowed within 25 feet of any park amenity (playgrounds, shelters, buildings, benches, beach, splash pad). A permit for alcohol use can be obtained from the City Clerk’s Office.

18. Where do I sign up my child for Little League and other youth sports programs?: The Little League program is run through the Blaine Area Little League. Registration information can be found online. Most sports are offered through volunteer based athletic associations.

19. What type of soccer program does Blaine offer?: The Parks and Recreation Department offers non-competitive, recreational, instructional soccer. All other soccer is run by the Twin Cities Rush.

20. Can I fish at the Sunrise Lake at Lakeside Commons Park?: Yes, fishing is allowed.

21. Can I operate a motorized boat on Sunrise Lake at Lakeside Commons Park?: There is no public boat launch at Lakeside Commons. You may, however, carry in canoes and kayaks and load them in by the boat house. Only electric motors are allowed on the lake.
